Feminine Psychotherapy

Dr. McGowan offers both counseling and psychotherapy that is sensitive to the changing roles of women in today's society. Some of the issues that may concern women are: single parenthood; working and caring for a family; being the breadwinner of the family while your partner has taken over childcare and the domestic duties; problems associated with both working with men and women that supervise you; and issues related to you being in the role of a supervisor over both men and women. Dealing with a husband or partner,  and taking care of a home and children can be very demanding and place a strain on your relationship.

The glass ceiling is still there, and sometimes you may have to work harder than the men to be recognized. All of these changes for women, from the traditional role of wife and homemaker, to the professional and executive role, can create many problems that can be helped with talk therapy.
